Broadvision (NASDAQ:BVSN) and Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) team up to provide
companies transaction-enabled, personalized ecommerce sites. We think this is a
good move for Broadvision's market reach for growth.
CMGI (NASDAQ:CMGI) invests $100 million in a new startup aimed at the
burgeoning Internet audio-video market. The firm will be headed by former NBC TV
executive Neil Braun. The move reiterates the shift towards more multimedia on
the Internet. As it stands we see two stocks in this space, two companies with
substantial leads: RealNetworks (NASDAQ:RNWK) and Broadcast.com (NASDAQ:BCST).
Mindspring (NASDAQ:MSPG) finalizes its purchase of NETCOM from ICG. ICG
keeps the backbone but sells Mindspring NETCOM's U.S. subscriber and customer
base. Terms: $245 million ($215 million in cash and $30 million in stock).
Earthlink (NASDAQ:ELNK) posts $175 million revenue for 1998, more than
double the $80.8 million in 1997. Loss for 1998 is $2.58 per share vs. $1.50 per
share in 1997.
